Fukuoka Prefectural University pursues its objectives of education and research through two faculties, namely the Faculty of Integrated Human Studies and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Nursing.
The Faculty of Integrated Human Studies and Social Sciences is made up of three departments (Department of Public Sociology, Department of Social Welfare, and Department of Human Development and Education). Each of these departments aims to produce graduates capable of understanding the human condition and society, and of collaborating with other professionals in order to solve problems. The Faculty of Nursing similarly prioritizes the development of a highly educated and socially-responsible graduate body equipped with practical nursing skills. These graduates exhibit a capacity for making decisions in conjunction with other experts in order to actively and effectively respond to health-related issues. Since 2009, Fukuoka Prefectural University has also been offering a range of general courses open to students in both faculties. In 2015, an Inter-faculty Education Program was established, comprising the Information Education Program of Health and Welfare, the Human Care and Support Program, the International Exchange Program, and the Career Support Program. In the university's Graduate School of Human and Social Sciences, students further develop their expertise in fields relating to community, welfare policy and interpersonal assistance, thereby enabling them to more effectively contribute to a highly developed welfare society. Furthermore, in the Graduate School of Nursing, students acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to become superlative researchers and educators and to promote regional health and medical policy and welfare policy. The following range of university-affiliated laboratories and centers also promote health and welfare, lifelong development, and community support activities: 1) the Research Promotion Division; 2) The Research Center of Lifelong Development and Welfare; 3) the Practical Health Promotion Research Center; 4) the Center for School and Child Support Network. The university also offers a Social Contribution and Volunteer Support Center in order to facilitate volunteer activities, and the Information Processing Center manages the university's network and educates the students about information processing. Moreover, students can receive the practical nursing education necessary to become certified nurses through Fukuoka prefectural University's Nursing Training Center. A Psychology Clinic is also available to graduate course students in the Faculty of Integrated Human Studies and Social Sciences, while clinical ethics practice is offered to students majoring in clinical psychology. |
