Features

Nara Women's University offers graduate and undergraduate degree programs through its four faculties and graduate school. The undergraduate course is composed of the Faculty of Letters, the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Human Life and Environment and the Faculty of Engineering. The Graduate School of Humanities and Sciences is a 5-year program, characterized by its academic educational research integrating the humanities and sciences. Founded in 1908 as the Nara Women's Higher Normal School, Nara Women's University has been a leading institution of higher learning for women in Japan, and marked its 110th anniversary in 2019. With this legacy of history and tradition we head toward a new era, for which our university has set up the following principles: Principle 1: To cultivate human resources that will lead to a gender-equal society - Toward a university that disseminates information for the empowerment of women - Principle 2: To enhance liberal arts education and basic education as well as upgrading professional education Principle 3: To conduct high level basic research and to pursue interdisciplinary research Principle 4: To be an open university - Promotion of international exchange and contribution to the region and the society -
