Osaka Kyoiku University (OKU), which was founded in May 1874 as a teacher training school, has 150 years history and tradition.
The current number of undergraduate and graduate students totals approximately 4300, with another 4600 students matriculated in affiliated schools.
Among Japanese universities, OKU is a one of the leading producers of qualified teachers and leading large-scale college of education.

The main campus of OKU was established in the Kongo Ikoma Kisen National Park, in Kashiwara City, Osaka. In addition, OKU also has a centrally located campus in Tennoji, one of information and industrial hubs of Osaka. Moreover, OKU aims to become a comprehensive university of education by making up to 11 affiliated schools for elementary, secondary and special needs education in Tennoji and Hirano wards of Osaka City and Ikeda City, Osaka Prefecture.

The Center for Global Education and Research provides services with the objective of expanding teacher education by cooperating with other educational/research institutes both domestic and overseas. It also aims to advance human resource development, meeting the demand of globalized society. It is made up of four departments, including the Collaborative Development, International Education, Language Education, and International Student Education. The Collaborative Development department provides support for promoting academic collaborations with universities overseas and strengthen the collaborative relationship with local communities. The primary task of the International Education department is to nurture students with a global point of view by encouraging the outbound mobility of its students. The Language Education department plays an important role in the language education of the university and provides support for students' self-motivated language learning by running the Global Learning Community. The International Student Education department provides Japanese language education and learning support for the international students from overseas.

 大阪教育大学は、1874年(明治7年)5月に設置された教員伝習所を起源とし、150年の歴史と伝統を有しています。
 学部・大学院等の学生数は約4300名、附属学校園の園児・児童・生徒数は約4600名にのぼり、正規の教員採用者数で全国トップクラスの実績を誇る、日本でも有数の大規模な教育大学です。
 
 本学のメインキャンパスは、大阪府柏原市の金剛生駒紀泉国定公園内に設立されました。また、情報・産業の中枢でありアクセス至便な大阪市内に天王寺キャンパスを擁しています。さらに大阪市天王寺区、平野区及び大阪府池田市の3地区に初等・中等教育並びに特別支援教育に対応した11の附属学校園を設置し、総合的な教育系大学をめざしています。
 グローバルセンターは、国内外の教育・研究機関と連携して教員養成の機能強化を図るとともに、社会のグローバル化に対応できる人材の養成を目的としています。教育・研究を一体的な視点で大阪教育大学の国際化を進める総合的なセンターです。
 同センターには、連携開発、国際教育、語学教育、留学生教育の四部門が設置されています。連携開発部門は海外大学との学術交流の推進と地域との連携の強化、国際教育部門は学生の海外派遣の促進によるグローバルな視野をもった学生の教育を主な任務としています。また、語学教育部門は、同大の語学教育の中核を担うとともに、外国語学習支援ルームを運営し、学生の自律的な語学学習の支援をしています。さらに、留学生教育部門は海外からの留学生に対する日本語教育と学修支援を行っています。
